Star-Lord, The half human, half alien. He is the leader of the Guardians who was abducted from Missouri as a child in 1988 and raised by a group of alien thieves and smugglers called the Ravagers.
Gamora, is the adopted daughter of the supervillain Thanos, and the last of her species. Her powers include superhuman strength and agility and an accelerated healing factor.
Racket Racoon, a genetically engineered raccoon who is a bounty hunter and mercenary, as well as a master of weapons and battle tactics.
Groot, A tree-like humanoid who is the accomplice of Rocket. He can absorb wood as food, and has the ability to regenerate. Groot can control trees, he can form plants, using them to attack others, and appears to be resistant to fire. Groot is able to sprout, dramatically increasing mass but also severely inhibiting movement. Groot has been seemingly killed on multiple occasions, each time regrowing from a sprig.
Drax the Destroyer, A warrior in search of vengeance against Ronan for killing his family. His powers included enhanced strength and resilience.
Ronan the Accuser, A Kree radical who agrees to retrieve an artifact for Thanos in exchange for eradicating his mortal enemies, the Xandarians. Ronan and his army hunt down the Guardians when they interfere with his goals.
Nebula, An adopted daughter of Thanos who was raised with Gamora as siblings and is a loyal lieutenant in the employ of Ronan and Thanos.
